Terms and Conditions:

Please read the following Terms and Conditions and then click “Agree and Pay” at the bottom.

Lavaland Hawai’i Guest Agreement:

I agree that I have read and understand the requirements for the tour I have reserved, and I, and everyone in my party, are able to meet these requirements. I agree that I, and everyone in my party, will follow the guide’s direction at all times. I understand that non-compliance may result in the immediate termination of my tour without refund.

Payment Policy:

Payment is due at the time of booking and we are unable to hold reservations without payment.


Cancellation Policy:

Our tours run rain or shine. We only cancel due to weather, if conditions are unsafe. 

If for any reason we have to cancel your tour, we will refund 100% of your fee.

We will also issue a full refund if you have to cancel and let us know at least 1 week ahead of your scheduled tour.

For cancellations after that time we will refund a portion of the total charge as follows:

Up to 72 hours before scheduled tour: 80% refund

Up to 48 hours before scheduled tour: 50% refund

We are unable to issue refunds for cancellations within 48 hours of scheduled tours.

For our guests arriving on cruise ships:

If your ship’s itinerary changes, we will do our best to reschedule your tour for the date you will be in Hilo. If this is not possible, we will refund you 100%.

If for any reason your ship does not arrive in our port of Hilo, we will refund you 100%.


Late Policy:

In consideration for our other guests, we will not be able to wait past the appointed pick up time for guests on our regular tours. We will not be able to refund guests who miss their departures. For this reason, please be sure you understand the meeting time and location, approximate driving times to get there and plan to arrive a few minutes early for your tour. If you have questions we are happy to help!

If you see that you will be late, or need directions, please call the office and we will direct you so that you may join the tour in progress, if possible.

We ask you to provide us with a mobile phone number, in case of emergency, or if your guide is unable to locate you at pick up. We realize you might incur roaming charges and we will not call unless absolutely necessary.

For private tours: your guide will wait for you if you are late, however, the tour will begin and end at the times you specified in your reservation.


Lava Tour Agreement:

Lava flow activity and viewing conditions change frequently and are impossible to predict so we won’t be able to notify you about conditions ahead of time.

If there is no accessible lava on the day of your tour you may choose to reschedule for another day or if you prefer, we’ll refund you in full.

If you have reserved a tour to active lava, you must certify that you, and all the members of your party, are fit, in good physical condition and do not have any preexisting health conditions, including but not limited to: heart conditions; osteoporosis; hemophilia; asthma; allergy to sulfur; foot, ankle, leg, knee, hip or back problems; recent lower body surgeries; vision/depth perception problems; night blindness; poor balance; vertigo; lack of stamina or pregnancy.

If your guide feels that you cannot safely proceed at any point, or you are unable to keep up with the group, you will not be able to continue the tour for your own, and the group’s safety. Please note we are not able to issue refunds for guests we have to turn back so be sure that you and everyone in your party can meet the requirements.

Guests on lava tours must sign the following waiver immediately prior to the tour. Lava Tour Liability Waiver

Lost Item Return Policy:

If you leave an item behind on one of our tours we will to return it to you via USPS per your request. We are happy to mail lost items to your US address via US priority mail for a fee of $25.00 per item (under 12 lbs). We will return items to international addressees per the postage fee, paid in advance.

Privacy Policy:

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing: 
We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request.

We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.

Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the web page. While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information.
